Position Summary

BHR is hiring interns for different Clinical Operations within the agency, including but not limited to: Follow-Up Coordinators, Mobile Outreach Team, Outbound Navigator, and the Contact Center.  The Clinical Intern will provide immediate telephone/face-to-face assistance including crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and clinical assessments, when warranted, to determine and implement appropriate level of care and service to all callers.  The Clinical Intern will demonstrate excellent customer service skills in dealing with both internal and external customers. This position is for educational purposes to enhance concepts taught in classroom setting.

Essential Functions:

1. Proficiently handle inbound call volume in a call center environment that demands a high level of service within standardized time constraints.

2. Manage call times in an efficient and responsible manner. Finesse ambiguous situations presented by challenging callers.

3. Demonstrate proficiency in work habits and time management skills. Meet call center attendance and punctuality standards.

4. Perform high quality clinical assessment with excellent customer service skills. Display courtesy and sensitivity when conducting telephone/face-to-face clinical assessments with clients that are experiencing problems.

5. Document in a proficient and professional manner. Efficiently and effectively utilize sophisticated technology for documentation purposes.

6. Dispatch Mobile Outreach Team members for face-to-face evaluation. Perform an outreach if serving as an MOT.

7. Provide follow up services to callers in crisis.

8. May provide Outbound Navigator work to review Suicide Lifeline calls and make outbound calls handling CAFs.

9. Commit to ongoing professional and educational development. Participate in weekly individual supervision, BHR training, seminars, functions and events.

10. Work both independently and as part of a team with other employees and leads. Must work 20 hours per week and be flexible with work hours and special requests from managers.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by a manager.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  1. Bachelors Degree in a Mental Health, Behavioral Health or Human Services related field.
  2. Enrollment in Master's Degree program in Mental Health, Behavioral Health or Human Services related field.
  3. Cursory knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network, the Crisis Intervention Model and the DSM-IV.
  4. Clinical assessment skills.
  5. Ability to learn and adhere to multiple protocols for handling of calls.
  6. Telephone skills with excellent customer service techniques.
  7. Ability to use computer system and talk on phone while typing.
  8. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
