Position Summary:

The TeleED Clinician is responsible for completing a behavioral health level of care assessment and provide treatment recommendations for individuals who present to a hospital emergency department with mental health/substance use concerns. This is a telehealth position which allows you to work from home. Must be available during designated hours to provide immediate virtual clinical assessment for an emergency department in New Mexico.



Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responds to requests to do virtual assessment within five minutes of receiving call from the hotline. Must be ready to complete assessment within sixty minutes from time of receiving call.
  2. Conducts program specific screening and evaluation, and formulates diagnosis in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM).
  3. Conducts assessments in compliance with BHR's remote access HIPAA policy.
  4. Performs high quality clinical assessments with excellent customer service skills. Documentation is written in a proficient and professional manner. Uses sound clinical judgment and develops an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan to assist client in establishing necessary mental health services.
  5. Confers with emergency department staff to convey treatment recommendations.
  6. Complete level of care assessment and documentation within 60 minutes.
  7. Must work well individually and with co-workers as part of a team. Must be flexible with work hours and special requests from managers.


Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • Licensed in the State of New Mexico: LCSW, LISW, LPC or LPCC.
  • For candidates living outside of New Mexico, reciprocity is possible for LCSWs and LPCs who have held their license for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Crisis assessment experience.
  • Ability to write clinical documentation, conduct mental health assessments and develop client treatment plans.
  • Basic knowledge of how to use the computer; basic word processing skills.
  • Strong verbal, written. and interpersonal skills.

  • Computer: 2 GHz Dual Core Processor for minimally acceptable video. A more powerful processor is highly recommended for better patient experience. 4GB Random Access Memory.

  • Browser: Latest version of Mozilla Firefox ( or Google Chrome
  • Bandwidth: 3 Mbps uploading and 3 Mbps downloading or faster recommended

  • Space for conducting assessments that maintains HIPAA compliancy
